The whole truth behind the Pedro and Manchester United story may never really be known, perhaps even the people involved aren't entirely sure what happened. Manchester United were clearly interested in the player and if they dropped that interest at the last moment then it would be something of a surprise. The alternative suggestion is that the Premier League club took Pedro's will to sign them for granted and tried to save too much money, resulting in Chelsea swooping in.
That last scenario doesn't fit in with Manchester United then throwing as much as €80m at the signing of Anthony Martial from AS Monaco but no other scenario makes perfect sense either. A complicated little saga in a strange transfer window.
Jose Mourinho is happy with his acquisition of Pedro for Chelsea and the player has said that it was Manchester United not pushing through which made him go to London instead. Speaking to Marca, the former Barcelona star said "I saw that Manchester United weren't taking a decision and stalling, and I needed a team to start the season. Chelsea were the most decisive."
Pedro has had a good start to his Chelsea career since leaving Barcelona and each goal or assist he's involved in will be used as a hammer to attack Manchester United with.
