Billboard 200 Chart Moves: Bon Jovi Earns 15th Top 20 Album

 Meanwhile: Adele has now sold more than 14 million albums in the U.S.

On the most recent Billboard 200 chart (dated Sept. 12), Disturbed’s Immortalized rocked the top of the chart, scoring the band its fifth No. 1 album. The set debuted with 98,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Aug. 27, according to Nielsen Music.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the Sept. 12 chart:

— Bon Jovi, Burning Bridges - No. 13 — The veteran band’s latest album, Burning Bridges, bounds in at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart (25,000 units; 24,000 in pure album sales). It’s the group’s 15th top 20-charting effort, stretching back to its breakthrough 1986 release Slippery When Wet (which spent eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 1986 and 1987).

Burning Bridges is the band’s first album without guitarist Richie Sambora (who departed the act in 2013) and last for Mercury Records. Though Sambora doesn’t play on the set, he does share a writing credit on the album’s “Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning.”

In total, Bon Jovi has earned 12 top 10 albums, with five reaching No. 1. On the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, they have collected 25 entries, including four No. 1s (“You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Livin’ On a Prayer,” “Bad Medicine” and “I’ll Be There For You”).

— Carly Rae Jepsen, E*Mo*Tion - No. 16 — The pop singer’s second album, E*Mo*Tion, starts at No. 16 with 21,000 units (of which 16,000 are pre album sales). Jepsen’s first album, Kiss, debuted and peaked at No. 6 in 2012, and featured the No. 1 Hot 100 hit “Call Me Maybe.”

— Zac Brown Band, Jekyll + Hyde - No. 21 — The set surpasses 500,000 in album sales in the latest tracking week, becoming the band’s fifth release to do so. It moved another 12,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 27, bringing its cumulative total to 506,000. The Band’s other half-million sellers are: The Foundation (3.4 million), You Get What You Give (1.9 million), Uncaged (1.2 million) and Pass the Jar: Live From the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta (526,000).

— Wilco, Star Wars - No. 105 — The band’s formerly free album arrives on the list following its commercial release on Aug. 21 (6,000 units earned for the week, of which nearly all were pure album sales). Star Wars was initially issued as a free download on July 16 via Wilco’s official website.

— Adele, 21 – No. 132 — The diva’s mega-selling former No. 1 album moves 142-132 in its 236th week on the chart, as her overall album sales jump past 14 million. In the week ending Aug. 27, her second album, 21, sold another 2,000 copies while her debut set, 19, shifted another 1,000. The combined sales bring Adele’s overall sales to just north of 14 million. The bulk of that figure is owed to 21’s massive sales: 11.17 million. It’s the 10th largest-selling album since Nielsen Music started tracking sales in 1991.
