X FACTOR winner James Arthur has signed a new record deal a year after parting ways with Simon Cowell.
The singer – who won the talent contest in 2012 – has put pen to paper with Columbia Records Germany.
He is set to release a new album – the follow-up to his self-titled debut – with the label next year.
He tweeted: "After a crazy 15 months I'm so happy to be able to say that I've signed a worldwide deal with a major label and releasing album 2 in 2016.
"I want to say a huge thanks first of all to my incredible fans for the love and support you have shown me. Without you.. God knows what."
The 27-year-old left Cowell's label Syco last year after a series of controversies.
He was accused of promoting extremism after his hit Follow the Leader included the line "I'm gonna blow up your family like I'm a terrorist".
And in 2013 he sparked a homophobia row when he used the term "f****** queer" in a rap.
Arthur had a Christmas number one with his cover of Shontelle's Impossible after winning The X Factor.
But his most recent singles have proved less successful, with Get Down limping to number 96 in the charts last year.
