Chelsea will table a fifth offer for Everton and England defender John Stones when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Mirror reports that the Blues are undeterred by the Toffees’ refusal to sell the centre-back and will do all they can to bring the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho’s side have struggled defensively in the Premier League this season, with club captain John Terry hauled off during the 3-0 away defeat to Manchester City, before being sent off in the 3-2 win at West Brom a week later.
Stones has started all of Everton’s four league outings so far this season, Roberto Martinez’s men have taken five points from a possible 12 so far and sit ninth in the table.
The defender also started alongside Everton teammate Phil Jagielka on Saturday as England swept past San Marino, winning 6-0 at the Stadio Olimpico and confirming their place in next year’s European Championships in France.
