President Muhammadu Buhari announced today, through his spokesman Garba Shehu, that digital journalist Tolu Ogunlesi has been appointed as his new Special Assistant on Digital and New Media.
Mr. Ogunlesi obtained a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Anglia in the United Kingdom in 2011 and has worked for a variety of news organizations including The Africa Report, according to Mr. Shehu. He also received a CNN Multichoice African Journalism Award twice.
Ogunlesi is a 2015 New Media Fellow of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).
He will be assisted by Bashir Ahmaad, who is a Personal Assistant to the President on New Media.
