DMX rushed to hospital after he stops breathing, collapses without a pulse

Rapper DMX was on the brink of death Monday after he collapsed to the ground without a pulse in a Yonkers hotel parking lot, Westchester authorities suggested Tuesday.

The "Party Up" artist was reportedly no longer breathing by the time Yonkers cops responded to a call outside the Ramada Inn where he fell unconscious.

The officers immediately began performing CPR on the rapper's lifeless body after arriving to the scene — and his pulse returned roughly a minute later.

TMZ first reported the singer's collapse, but Yonkers police confirmed the basics of the website's report.

“This was an excellent job by the officers and they definitely saved the life," Lt. Patrick McCormack told the Daily News, without naming the rapper. "They found him in a lifeless condition with no breathing. They were able to bring back some breathing.”

A parking lot witness told cops DMX, 45, had consumed an undisclosed powdery substance before he dropped to the concrete. The officers then gave the rapper Narcan — a substance used as an antidote for narcotic drug overdoses — before rushing him to a New York area hospital. Citing privacy laws, McCormack could only say that the cops treated an unconscious 45-year-old man in that Ramada parking lot.

DMX is now in stable condition and is currently resting at the hospital where he was treated, according to the gossip site. He is not expected to receive criminal charges for the incident.

TMZ originally reported that DMX was hospitalized after what appeared to be a vicious asthma attack, as the rapper has a history with the breathing disorder. But the gossip site now reports that signs point to a drug overdose.

It's been a rough few months for the "We In Here" mastermind, who was sentenced to six months in jail last July for failing to pay $400,000 worth of child support. He was eventually released two months later after a judge tabled the rest of his sentence, but he was arrested again in December after he missed a court hearing.

The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native was one of hip-hop's biggest stars in the 1990s and early 2000s, as each of his first five albums debuted at No. 1.
