While the current Chelsea squad are busy preparing for their crucial FA Cup game with Manchester City this weekend, two of the club's former stars in Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were reunited on the other side of the planet in what is sure to make Blues fans reminisce.
Drogba and Lampard were seen sharing a warm embrace and catching up as the forward's current side Montreal Impact took on the midfielder's new team, New York City FC, in a pre-season friendly at the Al Lang Stadium in Florida on Wednesday night.
Neither of the Chelsea legends took part in the match, which New York won 1-0 thanks to Patrick Mullin's 75th-minute goal, but after the game Lampard gave his former teammate Drogba his jersey to mark the pair reuniting.
Clearly overwhelmed at seeing his friend again, Drogba then took to social media to show off Lampard's New York shirt.
Writing on Instagram, the striker said: "The face you make when you've met your bro @franklampard and get his jersey #reunion #chelseafcrecordbreaker #legend #historymakers #hardworker #cfcfamily".
Drogba came close to sealing a return to Chelsea recently after he revealed in January he was "in discussions" with Montreal Impact about his future amid speculation he could retire and join the Blues' coaching staff.
But the 37-year-old decided to stay with MLS outfit Impact, although he has been spotted at his former stomping ground twice since the departure of Jose Mourinho in December.
