Wenger’s status as manager at the Emirates has come under increased pressure over the last couple of years, and particularly since the close of the transfer window this summer.
The legendary coach’s failure to sign a striker, or indeed any outfield player, was met with confusion from fans.
Those same supporters also questioned Wenger’s decision to drop Petr Cech from the starting line-up in a must-win Champions League match on Tuesday evening.
David Ospina started in goal for the Gunners and made a costly error – dropping the ball over his own goal-line – to gift Olympiacos the advantage.
Arsenal would lose the match 3-2 and look very likely to exit the tournament at the first hurdle.
However, Keown – who played under Wenger for eight years at the North London club – is adamant that despite scrutiny over his position, the manager will at least see out his current contract with the side.
He said: “I think we’re all wasting energy discussing it. He’s the manager for the next two seasons, and I fully expect him to see it through.
“He’ll obviously have to assess his position after next season, but when I last spoke to him I didn’t detect any waning in his determination to carry on.”
Arsenal currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, having won four of their opening seven league matches. A tough home fixture against Manchester United is on Sunday.
