Chelsea have confirmed the season-long loan of midfielder Nathan Ake to newly-promoted Watford, reports the Guardian.
The Netherlands under-21 international penned a new five-year-deal at Stamford Bridge prior to sealing the move to Vicarage Road.
Ake has featured 12 times for Chelsea since graduating from the youth set-up in 2012, spending time on loan at Reading last season in a bid to further his development.
The Dutchman’s decision to leave Stamford Bridge on loan is understandable, with the highly successful midfield partnership of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas unlikely to be broken up, meaning midfielders such as Ake, Ramires and John Obi-Mikel may be frozen out.
The former Feyenoord youth player is Watford’s 11th addition of the summer so far, with the likes of Etienne Capoue, Valon Behrami, Sebastian Prodl and Matej Vydra all sealing moves to the North London outfit.
The Hornets face Tony Pulis’ West Brom this weekend in the first Premier League game at Vicarage road since 2007.
