She’s been in the music
industry for over 25 years, so you can’t blame Mariah Carey for having a
bit of a problem with people who get famous for nothing.
The 45-year-old, who has sold over 200
million records, has discussed reality TV stars – and revealed why she
doesn’t respect them. In what many have taken as a dig at Kim Kardashians, the Queen of Shade told an Israeli journalist: “Some people’s goal is to be famous, not to have a craft or an art that they’re famous for.
“Today, you can be famous from just being on a reality… well, doing… you don’t really have to do much, but you kinda gotta do a lot.
Mariah doesn't respect people who get famous for nothing “And then your whole life is just about being a celebrity and that’s what some people aspire to, because it’s easy and because then everybody knows them and all they see is the bright side of fame.”
Mariah’s ex-husband Nick Cannon briefly dated Kim, 34, shortly before she shot to fame on family reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
According to reports, Marian and presenter Nick, who have never revealed the reason for their split last year, divorced over the revelation of his relationship with Kim.
US gossip site TMZ claimed that superstar Mariah felt humiliated over Nick’s confession during a radio interview in March 2014.
However Nick responded to the reports, claiming: “She doesn’t even know who Kim Kardashian is. She doesn’t pay attention to that.”
And don’t expect to see your favourite diva on camera anytime soon: Mariah insisted there’s no way she could do reality TV.
“I couldn’t handle being on a reality show,” she said. “I couldn’t handle having people with cameras on me all the time. [My life is] already like that, it’s too much.”
