21 Savage was arrested on the premise that he’d failed to sort out his immigration status in a timely manner, and was thus eligible for deportation. Even though, 21 Savage, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, has a legal team fighting for his civil rights while he remains in custody.
There is the confirmation from Rolling Stone and The Blast that 21 Savage is in fact, being held at “one of the worst immigration detention centres in the US,” according to Azadeh Shahshahani, a former senior member of ACLU of Georgia’s National Security and Immigrants’ Rights committee.
The Blast went ahead with its findings even though 21 Savage’s legal team has shown itself unwilling to confirm or deny their client’s current location. Believe what you will, but the Irwin County Detention Center is located three hours from Midtown Atlanta and can hold up to 1,200 individuals at any given moment.
