Iran tells France missile capability non-negotiable

Iran has advised France to be careful in its views about the Islamic Republic after President Emmanuel Macron called for talks on Tehran’s ballistic missiles.
"French statesmen and other statesmen who speak about Iran’s affairs need to pay attention to the deep developments that have come to pass in the region in past decades and the big changes between the current situation and the past,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Monday.
"They should analyze the issues more carefully in their words and statements because the Islamic Republic of Iran will definitely not negotiate on defensive and missile matters," he added.
About other regional issues, the spokesman said, "our French friends also need to be more careful," hoping that the necessary grounds would be paved for the meeting of Iranian and French officials in "the not too distant future."
Iran, he said, has so many things about multiple issues to tell French officials in order to allow them to have "a more precise and deeper analysis of the issues of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the region."
Tehran wanted to make French leaders "recall that Iran is the only country that has paid a heavy price to combat terrorism in the past years," Qassemi added.
"They should remember that if Iran had not stood up to the terrorists, not only would they have left their devastating impact on the region, but they could also have committed horrendous crimes in the streets across Europe and other parts of the world, similar to what happened in some European cities in previous years."
Iran, the spokesman said, "stood up to terrorism and terrorists through proper policymaking and using all its power, and managed to push them away from the battlefield to a great extent."
