Arsenal legend considering shock offer to join Chelsea this summer

Chelsea have made contact with Arsenal great Marc Overmars as they look at overhauling their academy, according to reports in Spain.

Overmars, who is the current director of football at Ajax, scored 25 goals in 100 appearances for the Gunners before leaving north London back in 2000 – but the 43-year-old could now be set for a return to the Premier League.

Spanish outlet Sport, who have strong ties with Overmars’ former club Barcelona, claim the Dutchman is set to leave his post at Ajax this summer and is now considering an offer from Chelsea.

The former winger has impressed with bringing through youngsters at the Dutch outfit and the Blues reportedly want him at Stamford Bridge to work alongside technical director Michael Emenalo.

It’s understood Chelsea are yet to hear back from Overmars over the position.
