Kim Kardashian And Katy Perry Take On Liz Taylor

Proof Elizabeth Taylor is still a total style icon? Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry both want to be her.
It's not often a style icon from the past is channelled by two huge celebrities in the same week, but this week, it's all about Liz T.

First, Katy Perry revealed her arty new cover for Harper's Bazaar US, in which the singer is seen emulating the 1960s siren by coping Liz Taylor's world famous Andy Warhol shot.
The 30-year-old Fireworks singer works garish green eyeshadow, heavy liner and a classic red pout as her hair is worn in a retro bouffant, and we have to say, the resemblance is uncanny.

Inside, Katy explains why she's such a fan. 'An icon transcends time', she said.
'Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years... And I’m sure I’ll be married just as many times!' LOL.
Then, Kim's shoot for The Violet Files saw her taking on Liz's glamorous persona in the world famous movie Cleopatra.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star shared the results of her stunning spread for beauty site Violet Grey where she teamed up with legendary makeup artist, Pat McGrath for her Cleopatra makeover.
Working gilded gold eye make-up and fierce feline flicks sculpted masterfully with liquid eyeliner, Kim looks seriously striking. So what was the inspiration behind the shoot?

'Elizabeth Taylor’s makeup in Cleopatra has been reacted countless times, but for Kim I wanted to create a version that has never been done before, a futuristic 3-D version', McGrath explained.
'I wanted to portray a luxurious decadence by using elements of ornate facial jewellery constructed into shapes that pay homage to Egyptian culture, and of course to the rich exotic character that Taylor played in this role.'

We'd say it was good job done. Two very different Liz looks, both equally as cool.
Nice work, ladies...
