Evans has made 198 appearances for Man United during his nine seasons in the first team, scoring seven goals. Before that he enjoyed loan spells at Sunderland and Royal Antwerp.
The defender has found himself on the margins since Louis van Gaal’s arrival, and has decided to make the move to the Baggies in search of more regular first team football.
Evans had been used as a back-up centre-half under Van Gaal, but the dye was cast when the United manager opted to convert Daley Blind into a defender rather than using the Northern Irishman this season.
United are currently lacking in tall central defenders, but it seems that even with his physique Evans has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Evans will join former United teammate Darren Fletcher at the Hawthorns.
According to the rumour mill, West Brom paid £6 million plus another £2m worth of add-ons for Evans.
The signing capped off a happy Saturday for the Baggies after they won 1-0 away at Stoke.
