Bruce Campbell has revealed some more details about the Ash vs Evil Dead TV show, promising it won't be a "watered-down version of the film".
Campbell will be picking up his role as Ash in the Sam Raimi-continuation of the film Evil Dead, and has revealed how intense filming has been (via EW).
Ash is back: Everything you need to know about the Evil Dead TV show
"How much blood is there going to be? I went blind the other day shooting a scene," said Campbell. "That's how much blood there is on the show. I've been gagged once and I went blind."
So pretty intense, then.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association's press tour, Campbell added: "It would be silly of us to rip the fans off by doing a watered-down version of the series. If this came out as a movie, it would be unrated. … The beauty of working with Starz is we have no content restriction whatsoever."
Producer Sam Raimi expanded on the freedom that broadcasting on Starz gives the show.
He said: "It was very important we found a network that was willing to go to the limit and really let us go anywhere we wanted with the humour, outrageous horror [and] crazy amounts of gore, which is one of the hallmarks of the Evil Dead films."
Campbell has also teased the possibility of more films arising from the TV series.
He said: "This series will force us to make more movies," he hinted. "That's only ten hours of programming; we need eight more movies.
"Making a fourth movie would work… No matter what we give them, it will never be enough!"
Lucy Lawless is also appearing in the show, as the mysterious Ruby Knowby who blames Ash for the dead rising again and is seeking him out.
