The All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday (Wednesday), has severed its involvement in Mrs Toyin Saraki’s travails with the EFCC.
This was according to National Chairman of the party, Odigie-Oyegun who spoke to journalists in Abuja that Mrs. Saraki’s invitation to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was not orchestrated by the party or any of its members.
“I want to assure you that the APC has absolutely nothing to do with that case. It could have been triggered, in fact, by the opposition. So, we are totally, completely and absolutely innocent of it.”
“Thanks to Mr President, who once again, made it clear that everybody had no alternative than to listen to what the party says. I think his message resonated very intensely with all the members. He still did not interfere, he insisted that the leadership and members should resolve whatever was militating against the resolution.”
Meanwhile, wife of the senate president, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, again reported at the EFCC office on Wednesday to continue her interrogation by anti-graft operatives.
She arrived at the commission by 10 am and was released to go on administrative bail around 4.30pm. The bail granted means Mrs Saraki is subjected to make herself available at the commission any time she is required to do so.
The senate president’s wife’s interrogation had commenced on Tuesday when EFCC operatives were said to have grilled her for over six hours. She is being investigated for her role in the alleged sleaze that took place during her husband’s tenure as governor of Kwara State.
