Security was stepped up around the United Nations on Tuesday (September 24), ahead of the world body's General Debate, where leaders from around the world will begin days of speeches.
Scores of streets were closed off to traffic for people unaffiliated with the meetings.
Officers from local, state, and federal agencies stood watch as attendees shuffled past.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was scheduled to lead off the speeches, followed by US President Donald Trump, and the leaders of Egypt, Turkey, France, South Korea, and others.
