'US whipping up anti-Russia sentiments'

US accusations of a Russian cyber-attack is a desperate attempt by the Obama administration to shore up animosity and fear towards the Russians, a former US Army psychological warfare officer says.
US politicians are intentionally manufacturing connections between Russia and the hacking issue to put pressure on Moscow and demonize the Russians in the eyes of the American people, Scott Bennett told Press TV on Saturday.

He referred to domestic interests of anti-Russia propaganda for US authorities, adding, “They can propagandize it in the debates and in the American election.”

The United States has formally accused Russian “senior-most officials” of authorizing cyber-attacks on American political organizations in the run-up to the presidential election on November 8.

The accusations came in a joint statement by the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of Director of National Intelligence on Friday. Russia has rejected the accusations as "nonsense."

The allegation came after the hack of the Democratic National Committee in June and the subsequent release of 20,000 DNC emails by WikiLeaks in July.

Hackers have also targeted the voter registration systems of more than 20 US states in recent months.

Bennett said certain American officials are fanning the flame of a confrontation with Russia. “The United States is on the brink of a nuclear war with Russia,” he said.

“The most powerful psychological warfare weapon is truth and the truth in this case is precisely what all of these leaks and hackings and WikiLeaks cables revelations have given to the American people,” Bennett said.
