US envoy for Venezuela Abrams heckled by Code Pink activist

A pacifist has disrupted a speech by US Special Representative for Venezuela Elliot Abrams during an event against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

Abrams was outlining Washington's anti-Venezuela policy at the Atlantic Council Center think-tank in Washington, DC on Thursday when the Code Pink activist mounted a chair and raised a placard that read “no coup in Venezuela” while calling the lecturer a "war criminal".
The activist condemned the event titled “Venezuela after Maduro: A Vision for the Country’s Future”, protesting to the organizers of the event who were pursuing coup d'etat and regime change in the Latin American country, asking the participants, “How dare you?”
After a few minutes, the female activist was forcefully removed from the salon by a guard..
Among those present at the anti-Maduro event was Carlos Vecchio, charge d'affaires for Venezuela to the United States for the government of the self-proclaimed new president of the country, opposition leader Juan Guaido.
Guaido is backed by the Trump administration demanding Maduro step down in favor of the opposition leader.
On Wednesday, the last diplomats loyal to Maduro left the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, leaving the premises in the hands of activists who have held a sit-in there for two weeks, not allowing anyone to enter.
Abrams claimed the sit-in was “a violation of the law”, and said the activists had to leave the facility.
Code Pink is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) aimed at promoting peace, especially in conflict zones and areas where the US is funding the conflict.
