Sammy, real name Samuel Yakubu, was born on November 18th in the Northern Nigerian state of Kaduna. If there was one anyone word to describe this young man, it would be multi-talented; Sammy is a gifted songwriter, singer, dancer and he plays the guitar.
Growing up, Sammy had always been musically inclined. Although he started out dancing, the young man could never let go of the melodies of each song, he and his dance team would perform to; he would spend hours searching for the lyrics to these songs. At 14, Sammy joined Soul Quest, a dance team who would later become the first national champions of one of West Africa’s most coveted dance competitions, the Malta Guinness Street Dance in 2008, in Lagos. Over time, Sammy has worked with as a choreographer and dancer with some big names in the dance industry.
Although he made a decision to perfect his act as an entertainer and sing professionally, Sammy did not find the right platform till he got signed to Bit Bender Entertainment in 2010, who he met through his friend and producer, Amos ‘Sleekamo’ Kantiok.
