Lil Durk’s gun charges were dropped yesterday by prosecutors in his ongoing legal case after a judge ruled that Durk did not violate probation in a 2014 incident, the Chicago Tribune reports.
“I was kind of nervous, but I ain’t ever nervous about the truth because I know God is on my side and I got a good lawyer,” the Windy City rapper told the publication at the courthouse. He was represented by Sam Adam Jr. and publicly praised him on Instagram.
“Thank god for my lawyer who been there since day one Sam Adams Jr. I beat my case today now I can get to the money and growth of my career and being a father to my kids thank you God 2x,” he says.
Durk was facing 12 counts of felon in possession of a handgun after police found two .45-caliber pistols in his apartment two years ago while searching for a first-degree murder suspect.
He was accused of violating probation from a case in 2013 when he was arrested after throwing a gun into his car when law enforcement approached him.
A judge said that Durk did not violate probation because even if he knew the guns were in his residence, he did not have “possession and control” of them.
Adam said now that Lil Durk’s gun charges have been dropped, the rapper can focus on his career. He released his Lil Durk 2X album last month and has been joining the chorus of voices in the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Now, Durk can continue to be artist,” the attorney told DNAinfo. “No more negative. Only positive. That’s what we’re going to focus on.”
