SPORTS: Talks dragging on for Chelsea transfer, disagreement on price

Considering Tuttosport’s obsession over which midfielder Juventus should buy this transfer window, we’d started to think they’d completely forgotten about Juan Cuadrado.

The Colombian, currently on loan at the Serie A club from Chelsea, has impressed when called upon this season, including during his cameo against Roma in his last outing.

Not a day went by before the transfer window without an Italian newspaper speculating over the player’s future, and Tuttosport have dedicated a whole page to the subject on Wednesday, reminding us that Juventus want to make the deal permanent.

While the prices fluctuated between €20m and €22m before January, the Italian newspaper now report that the Serie A club are looking to try and bring that price down to below €20m, just because.

One way of doing this would be through the inclusion of bonuses, meaning the initial hit would be lessened, but Tuttosport don’t see this happening just yet.

While early negotiations have started between the two sides, it won’t be before February or March that serious talks will take place.

Considering the Italian media reported early negotiations taking place as early as November, we’re starting to wonder whether the two clubs have decided to do this the old fashion way and use standard mail as their means of communication.

All that we know is that Juventus want Cuadrado to stay, and Cuadrado wants to stay in Turin.

Now, all that’s left to do is for someone at Juventus to just pick up the phone and call those in charge of transfers at Chelsea.

It’s not that difficult.

Tom Coast.
